We are happy to share that 30 Southlake patients who are being cared for at the Reactivation Care Centre at 2111 Finch Ave. West are all safe and there are no reports of any injuries.
The patients were evacuated from the unit around 7:15 a.m. this morning after a small fire broke out in a food pantry. Hospital staff have contacted most of the patients’ families and continue to attempt to contact the remaining ones.
The Toronto Fire Department has completed their investigation and a specialized team is now leading clean-up and safety inspections. Our patients will remain on an alternate unit until it is safe for them to return to their original unit.
Thank you to all our staff and to Toronto Fire for working quickly to keep our patients and staff safe.
